SkyGrid’s Vision for the future of Drones: Interview with Zehra Akbar

SkyGrid is a Boeing, SparkCognition company enabling the future of mobility. Based in Austin, Texas, SkyGrid is delivering a platform capable of providing safe airspace operations, including unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) traffic management (UTM) solutions ⎯ a critical step toward integrating unmanned aircraft into complex, rapidly changing airspace.

As the first AI and blockchain-powered unmanned aerial operating system, SkyGrid’s intelligent system monitors, predicts, and adapts to changes in environment conditions, aircraft performance, and regulatory dynamics to safely enable a wide variety of UAS-enabled services, including package delivery, industrial inspections, and emergency assistance.

In this interview, Zehra Akbar, Chief Strategy Officer at SkyGrid, discusses SkyGrid’s work with partners such as NASA, Wisk, and Lift Aircraft. SkyGrid’s goal is to enable the safe operation of drones and eVTOL aircraft in the same airspace for various use cases, including search and rescue missions, solar farm inspections, remote launch and planning, and more.

Looking to the future, Zehra Akbar predicts significant growth in both small and large drone usage in the next 4 to 5 years and sees the potential for passenger and cargo flights to generate revenue. Check out this DroneTalk with Zehra Akbar to learn more about the advantages provided by our system and who benefits the most from them.
